Customizing the NetSuite Industry Field On Leads, Prospects, and Customers

Sharing is Caring

If you are like me, you’ve had a requirement to customize the list of values in the Industry field which appears on Leads, Prospects, and Customers. If you’re like me, you couldn’t figure out why the Industry field isn’t listed at first in Customization -> Lists -> Records & Fields -> Lists. And of course, it’s not listed in Entity fields either.

Okay, so why can’t I customize the NetSuite Industry Field?

If your NetSuite organization is like most, you have installed the Enhanced Sales Center Bundle (Bundle ID 19656) which adds lots of new forms and fields. By default, the bundle is set to Hide Components.

Hiding Components means that the fields, forms, searches, etc are not available in the User Interface for customization.

To unhide the components, we need to find the bundle and allow the components to be shown. To show the components we need to do the following:

  1. Go to Customization -> SuiteBundler -> Search & Install Bundles -> List
  2. Find Enhanced Sales Center
  3. Navigate to the Components tab.
  4. In the Display Options, choose Show Components
  5. Navigate back to Customization -> Lists , Records & Fields -> Lists.

In this blog article, you’ve learned how to customize the NetSuite Industry list that was installed through the Enhanced Sales Center Bundle.
